December 12, 2011 by Marie Gizelle Leave a Comment

Ever imagined the old times when only candles light up the homes? Well, thank God, things are different now. But thank manufacturers there are light fixtures for all home needs whether indoors or outdoors, homeowners can extensively choose the lighting unit they are looking for from the site. There are ceiling fans and outdoor fans too! There are a lot of websites that offer lighting fixtures with search tool that displays products depending on different categories (style, brand, or application) whether a simple light bulb or , you can certainly compare design, usage and prices from the results. Most of the manufacturers have been established long ago and knows their trade very ...

Candles by Barboglio

December 10, 2011 by Marie Gizelle Leave a Comment

I collect candles (tealights and candle holders too), scented or not, decorated or not. I have them in glasses, small pots and bottles. I enjoy the subtle smell of these candles, it gives a certain feeling of comfort. There are beautifully designed candleholders by Jan Barboglio (http://www.raincollection.com/pages/jan_barboglio/600.php) that I am eyeing (see photo below). Barboglio's creations are inspired historic Mexico, each handmade giving a variety of beauty. My kitchen has some candleholders (glass tea-candle holders to be exact) sprawled about since I would light one or two when I cook so that the food wouldn't strongly smell. However, for decoration purposes I prefer these ones, ...

Princess Beds

December 6, 2011 by Marie Gizelle Leave a Comment

Whenever we're out on vacation, I always see to it that the hotel beds are comfortable enough for the kids to sleep on. I mean, I book our travels but of course, I cannot be sure the quality of what we're staying at...unless it's a recommended 5-star hotel. In such cases, I always enjoy the atmosphere and the beautiful interior.   My little princess also enjoys admiring beautiful kid's room especially with an elegant day bed in the middle such as this one (right image). Innovatively looking as a sofa but is designed to be used as a single or double bed when purchased with a trundle. But what would send my little girl jumping up and down in joy is this complete Cinderella bedroom set, ...

Window Replacement

December 2, 2011 by Marie Gizelle 1 Comment

When I was a kid, there were lots of "what I want to be when I grow up" on my list. One of those would be to become an interior designer. =) This might be the reason why until now I enjoy flipping pages of furniture and decor magazines. In my mind I always have a layout of my dream home, the best kitchen a woman could ever have and the biggest walk in cabinet full of my favorite shoes, clothes and bags.Back home months ago, I was disappointed at home the house looks so worn out and left, I would certainly want myself painting the walls if I had the time. I promised mom that I'd see to it that our house gets a new look soon. We'll have replacement windows and doors as well as flooring too.I ...

Air bed

November 30, 2011 by Marie Gizelle 4 Comments

I had always wanted to try one of those air beds I often see on tv. I particularly wanted one for my little boy. We had recently removed his bed because of 'night leaks' and he is sleeping at the moment with us. Since air matresses are waterproof, I am guessing the accidental leaks would not leave a stinky smell. However, there are still so many features of this bed that made me compare over. There are different types of air mattreses, for example the king air mattress, or the twin air mattress with built in pump. You'll surely find one that is fit for bringing out when camping, one for regular use or maybe one to pull out when friends stay over night. As I mentioned, mine would be for the ...

Fish Frying Pan

November 20, 2011 by Marie Gizelle 7 Comments

Since milkfish has lots of tiny bones, deboned (butterfly cut) is a great option to enjoy it. A little salt and pepper then crispy fried does the trick. What I don't like in cooking it is the part where the fish should be flipped because the skin, on some occasion, sticks to the pan, or the stomach (which is my favorite part) gets left behind. Thank goodness I was finally able to buy this oval fish pan that I have been eyeing since last year, I always forget to go back to where I first saw it until it became available last week at the neighborhood shop. Teflon made, this one is non-sticky and the fish fits perfectly without me having to worry about the tail! Milkfish is one of my favorite ...

Flowers to beautify the home

Flowers to beautify the home

Flowers and plants, whether real or artificial, makes the home more lively especially the colors paired with the interior. Since two sides of our living room are red while  the other two are cream, I tend to put more reds by those walls. This is an artificial gerbera I bought from Ikea long ago, still looks new, well because I dust it every now and then. So which do you prefer? The ones you should water or the ones you should dust? :) -- ...

Red Candles

October 30, 2011 by Marie Gizelle 13 Comments

I love scented candles... --- I have a number of them around the house and in different colors + scents too. The tall one has red apple scent which gives off a subtle and refreshing feeling. The small one that's almost through is strawberry and its scent much stronger than the apple. I put these candles for our dining table and light them when we eat. :D Like moth to a flame, the kids can't help but blow them off at times. :D I take extra precaution by not lighting them up when I'm not in that room. ...

Super mini frying pan

October 22, 2011 by Marie Gizelle 8 Comments

I got a mini, no...a super mini frying pan from the grocery store near us. It's so small only an egg could fit in, which is actually what I really wanted. As early in the morning I wouldn't want to use bigger pans and go clink-clanking to wake up everyone. This small pan is light and eggs slide off easily. ;) I have difficulty making sunny side ups but with this pan it's easy-peasy. See, even the little boy finds it easy to use.lol. Made this eggxtra special by adding some seasalt and herbs (dried basil, dried tomato bits and oregano). ...

Utensil/Gadget Appreciation – Apple slicer

October 14, 2011 by Marie Gizelle 7 Comments

When I was still working as an English tutor at an after-school institution I often look for this particular utensil, an apple slicer. The kids love munching on apples and we are provided about 50 or more apples a day for each group composed of 20 kids! One can't really finish an apple in one sitting so what I would do is slice them. It would be too much of a job using a knife so I'm really grateful to whoever invented this piece...with just one downward motion you get precise slices and you can remove the core easily... You don't need to remove the seeds or core from each piece...it goes down one clean cut for the core. This little kitchen gadget is easy to clean as it is stainless steel. ...
