Removing Limescale with Vinegar

March 18, 2012 by Marie Gizelle Leave a Comment

Limescale is off-white, chalky deposits you see inside cooking pots and kettles, taps and water pipes, and in appliances such as washing machines and dishwashers. They usually appear to be off-white, light brown to orange in color. This is because of the chemicals such as iron, calcium and magnesium, that are present in the water and are left as the water evaporates. Limescale also form when water elements combine with soap, thus leaving soap scum in the surfaces of sinks, bath tubs, and draining pipes. Limescale can be very unsightly, and getting rid of them is such a pain even with the use of commercial descaling agents. Good thing there are materials readily available at home which could ...

Kitchen needs

February 10, 2012 by Marie Gizelle 11 Comments

Having some days off proved useful for hunting kitchen cabinets and appliances. I also had time doing some floorplans and designing with the help of a free online software. I don't plan on changing ours but looking at IKEA's and other kitchen design websites is simply inspiring. ;) If for anything, I want my mom's kitchen back home renovated. (This topic is normally posted on my other blog btw.) Browsing about led me to a widerange kitchen and dining products buying guide, a treasureful of resources. Advice on buying pots and pans per usage, care, which size to use are carefully detailed. From the featured photos, I identified some are like mine. I'd be embarrased to admit though that I ...

Roofers

January 31, 2012 by Marie Gizelle 5 Comments

Following the home remodeling article some time ago, let's look up roofers this time. Having a home with a roof that is not durable or is of a mismatch to how your home is designed would be chaotic. As with other jobs, roofing requires skills that is gained through learning and experience, we might not see it that way but it includes various areas like math, carpentry and construction. How do you get the best roofer in town? Asking around is the old way, ask a family member if they know people in the roofing industry, surely they will point you to someone who had a roofing done job too. Using the phone book is another easy step or ask a local home supply center. Contractors will ...

More Flowers

January 25, 2012 by Marie Gizelle 12 Comments

One need not be an expert in Ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arrangement, to effectively display flowers of your choice at home. Here's what you should remember when arranging flowers. --- Balance Balance is important physically and visually. Physical balance is necessary to insure the arrangement does not fall. Visual balance refers to whether the eye picks up similar shapes, colors and textures on both sides of the arrangement. Scale Flowers and plants used in an arrangement should be sized in proportion to each other and the container they will be placed in. While flowers can vary in size somewhat within an arrangement, very large flowers mixed with very small ones ...
