Customized Home Office and Pods

December 28, 2011 by Marie Gizelle 2 Comments

When hubby started being self-employed, our bedroom suddenly became cramped. Considering the size and plan of our apartment, a home office isn't really doable. Hubby's computer table is relatively big, well for 2 monitors and other stuff. We have tried planning other ways of arranging the furnitures but I don't think it would work out. We will soon be looking for a bigger place and there, perhaps custom home office furniture might be a good solution. Imagine an alloted 10 sq.mtrs room customized with cabinetry of your chosen wood for a home office. A table for your pc and gadgets; thin, organized bookshelves; a small sofa and coffeetable for your visitors would complete the ...

Our Balcony

December 26, 2011 by Marie Gizelle 7 Comments

Some time ago our balcony never looked so naked. I used to have pelargonia and hibisucs in it, fortune plants and harlequins in a plant box. The only plant left there now is our grapevine which has thrived for 4 winters now...It would have fruits at some point but now the leaves are just starting to show. I also used to grow some herbs and place them in the balcon a  bit during summer. I've had basil, oregano, marjoram and parsley to name a few. I'm planning to redesign our balcony this summer. I've actually planted forget-me-not bluebirds in the plant box that has been a seating ashtray for our smoking neighbors who just three their cig butts out the window. Some of the boxes even suffered ...

Rattan Beds

Rattan Beds

When we were looking for furnitures and stuff, I was surprised that hubby chose this rattan bed, he said "it feels a lot like home." Along with this bed we bought an L-shaped leather sofa, unfortunately, it looks beaten now, after 4 years of enduring being jumped on by the kids. Browsing online for sofas led me to this page of elegant and conservatory furnitures from 2furnish. They offer a wide range of cane and rattan furnitures in the latest and fashionable design that fits one's taste (and living room). Their collection are crafted with great details and designed to suit an individual's need...different sizes - small and compact to big corner seaters. There are L-shaped sofas, 2 ...

On Talents and Faucets

December 20, 2011 by Marie Gizelle 3 Comments

“Talent is like a faucet, while it is open, one must write.”- Jean Anouilh The past week has been a productive one for me, in writing that is. I know it's not how I used to, it's not my style but I thank the opportunity that I am still able to do something I love. So what does the picture have to do with this post? Nothing, it's just a faucet by my son's kindergarten. Since I got a faucet quote, I thought it appropriate to include a photo! ;-) I probably need to work on that, choosing which photos to include in an article and how to relate it well. Now, what if the water flowing froze, what should one do? ^_^ ...

Bathroom Suites

December 20, 2011 by Marie Gizelle 2 Comments

I was at a furniture shop near our place the other day. I was looking for a box to store the kids' toys and a garbage bin to replace the one we had under the sink. I can't remember where I got the old bin so it was not an easy hunt for me. I asked the attendants but they were giving me one that would take weeks to be delivered after order has been placed. I remember the last one was an item that I took home right after paying. While at the shop looking for the bin, I explored the kitchen and bathroom section, opening the sink cabinets to look for the said bin. :D I can't help but be amazed by the displays of most kitchen units and this particular bathroom suite. Candles by Barboglio

December 10, 2011 by Marie Gizelle Leave a Comment

I collect candles (tealights and candle holders too), scented or not, decorated or not. I have them in glasses, small pots and bottles. I enjoy the subtle smell of these candles, it gives a certain feeling of comfort. There are beautifully designed candleholders by Jan Barboglio (http://www.raincollection.com/pages/jan_barboglio/600.php) that I am eyeing (see photo below). Barboglio's creations are inspired historic Mexico, each handmade giving a variety of beauty. My kitchen has some candleholders (glass tea-candle holders to be exact) sprawled about since I would light one or two when I cook so that the food wouldn't strongly smell. However, for decoration purposes I prefer these ones, ...

Princess Beds

December 6, 2011 by Marie Gizelle Leave a Comment

Whenever we're out on vacation, I always see to it that the hotel beds are comfortable enough for the kids to sleep on. I mean, I book our travels but of course, I cannot be sure the quality of what we're staying at...unless it's a recommended 5-star hotel. In such cases, I always enjoy the atmosphere and the beautiful interior.   My little princess also enjoys admiring beautiful kid's room especially with an elegant day bed in the middle such as this one (right image). Innovatively looking as a sofa but is designed to be used as a single or double bed when purchased with a trundle. But what would send my little girl jumping up and down in joy is this complete Cinderella bedroom set, ...

Window Replacement

December 2, 2011 by Marie Gizelle 1 Comment

When I was a kid, there were lots of "what I want to be when I grow up" on my list. One of those would be to become an interior designer. =) This might be the reason why until now I enjoy flipping pages of furniture and decor magazines. In my mind I always have a layout of my dream home, the best kitchen a woman could ever have and the biggest walk in cabinet full of my favorite shoes, clothes and bags.Back home months ago, I was disappointed at home the house looks so worn out and left, I would certainly want myself painting the walls if I had the time. I promised mom that I'd see to it that our house gets a new look soon. We'll have replacement windows and doors as well as flooring too.I ...
